BRAND STORY
Founded in Tokyo in 1917, Kame ManNen is one of the oldest eyewear houses in Japan. Its name comes from the Japanese proverb "Tsuru wa sennen, kame wa mannen" — "the crane lives a thousand years, the turtle ten thousand years" — a symbol of longevity that has guided the brand for more than a century: creating frames built to last, both in their construction and in their design.
For decades, Kame ManNen was a confidential name known only to connoisseurs. Its round titanium frames, engraved rims and refined nose pads became cult objects among collectors, and its influence can be seen in many of today's most sought-after Japanese eyewear designs.
"The turtle lives ten thousand years."
THE CRAFTSMANSHIP
Every Kame ManNen frame is made in Japan by master craftsmen who combine time-honoured techniques with modern precision. Pure titanium is cut, engraved, layered and polished by hand, sometimes combined with acetate inner rims or precious finishes such as antique gold, brushed silver or matte black.
The house is known for its signature details: three-dimensional rims that hold thicker lenses with elegance, layered metal constructions that play with light and shadow, discreet pad arms and perfectly balanced proportions. Nothing is decorative for its own sake — every line has a purpose.
A TIMELESS SIGNATURE
From the iconic KMN 99 round frame to the octagonal KMN 9917 and the new 77 series, Kame ManNen reinterprets the classics of eyewear with quiet sophistication. Lightweight, comfortable and incredibly durable, each pair is designed to accompany its wearer for years, and to be passed on.
