Vision

BUNKER77 BY JMM is a limited collection of handcrafted eyewear and jewelry inspired by Adolph Bernard “Bunker” Spreckels III, surf prodigy, cultural rebel and heir to an American fortune. Developed alongside Takuji Masuda’s 2016 documentary BUNKER 77, each design draws on archival film and reflects a different chapter of his life.

THE PLAYER is named after Bunker’s self-created alter ego. It is based on the glasses he wore in Durban, South Africa, in 1975, during a period of surfing, hunting and wild excess. In the CAIRO colorway, warm Havana acetate meets bright cerulean lenses for a sun-soaked, adventurous look.

Crafted to Perfection

The frame is handcrafted from 10mm cured cellulose acetate in Havana. Its custom double-laminated temples pair Havana exteriors with light beige interiors.

The signature arrowhead front pins are finished in light gold, as is the skull-and-bones “calavera” medallion on the temple tips. In addition, inner-exposed “classic” wirecores with refined hairline details and 7-barrel hinges share the same light gold finish, while spur-shaped rivet heads in silver palladium and silver foil hallmarks complete the design.

The Cerulean CR39 lenses by Armorlite feature a 6-base curve and backside anti-reflective treatment. Therefore, they offer clarity, visual comfort and full UV protection, with a category 2 tint ideal for everyday wear.

Limited Production Batch

Only 200 pieces of THE PLAYER in CAIRO were produced, each numbered by hand and signed by the craftsmen.

Packaging

Each pair arrives in a custom monogram box with a calavera insignia debossed in red and copper foil. It includes one of two custom leather cases with a vintage copper calavera medallion, an oversized commemorative cleaning cloth printed with Raphael’s Triumph of Galatea and three photocards with archival images. A letterpress authenticity card with the craftsmen’s signatures and a hand-written edition number completes the set.
