Vision

BUNKER77 BY JMM is a limited collection of handcrafted eyewear and jewelry inspired by Adolph Bernard “Bunker” Spreckels III, surf prodigy, cultural rebel and heir to an American fortune. Developed alongside Takuji Masuda’s 2016 documentary BUNKER 77, each design draws on archival film and reflects a different chapter of his life.

The DECATO takes its name from an unfinished 1976 film, imagined while Bunker was staying at the Sunset Tower. It is based on the glasses he wore one night on Hollywood Boulevard. The SUNSET TOWER colorway pays tribute to that legendary hotel, with polished black acetate, gold accents and striking cerulean gold mirror lenses.

Crafted to Perfection

The frame is handcrafted from 10mm cured cellulose acetate in polished black. Its custom three-layer temples combine clear exteriors, black cores and gold inner layers, creating a luminous effect from every angle.

The signature arrowhead front pins are finished in 18K dark gold, as is the skull-and-bones “calavera” medallion on the temple tips. In addition, exposed “classic” wirecores with refined hairline details and 7-barrel hinges share a dark gold finish, while spur-shaped rivet heads in 10K gold and gold foil hallmarks complete the design.

The Cerulean Gold Mirror CR39 lenses by Armorlite feature a 4-base curve and backside anti-reflective treatment. Therefore, they offer clarity, glare reduction and full UV protection, with a category 3 tint made for bright sunlight.

Limited Production Batch

Only 50 pieces of the DECATO in SUNSET TOWER were produced, making it the rarest edition of the collection.

Packaging

Each pair arrives in a custom monogram box with a calavera insignia debossed in red and copper foil. It includes one of two custom leather cases with a vintage copper calavera medallion, an oversized commemorative cleaning cloth printed with Raphael’s Triumph of Galatea and three photocards with archival images. A letterpress authenticity card with the craftsmen’s signatures and a hand-written edition number completes the set.
