Collection: HUG Spectacles
ORIGIN: GERMANY | DESIGNERS: THOMAS HOBMAIER, FREDERIC UTZ & JOCHEN GUTBROD
Founded in May 2020 by three eyewear veterans with more than twenty years of experience each, HUG Spectacles takes its name from the initials of its founders, Hobmaier, Utz and Gutbrod, and from the gesture it evokes: an embrace. Every HUG frame is handcrafted in Germany in more than 100 manual steps, from the finest acetate, and pays homage to a legend of the blues or to musicians who quietly shaped music history.

HUG Spectacles
HUG Spectacles was born from a shared passion for honest craftsmanship, timeless design and the Mississippi Delta blues. Rather than chasing fleeting trends, Thomas Hobmaier, Frederic Utz and Jochen Gutbrod set out to create eyewear with substance: frames that are not loud or fashionable, but unique, enduring and made to become a daily companion.
Each frame is produced in Germany by a single family-run manufacturing partner, combining state-of-the-art technology with more than 100 manual steps. The finest acetate receives an exceptional polish and is assembled with customised rivets, the brand's signature temple wire core and perfectly engineered hinges. A discreet triangular plectrum emblem, a nod to the guitar, marks every pair.
The Blues Collection pays tribute to the pioneers of the Delta, such as Charley Patton, Robert Johnson or Howlin' Wolf, while the Various Artists Collection honours musicians from other genres, from Stevie Nicks to Lou Reed.
Production is fair and sustainable: every pair comes with a hand-stitched case in vegetable-tanned full-grain leather and a cleaning cloth made from recycled PET bottles. HUG Spectacles is its founders' own definition of luxury: an awareness of what is truly valuable today.
